Art History Instructor, Part-Time

ILLINOIS VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR IN ART HISTORY Revised: May 19, 2026 Page 1 of 2 Reports to: Dean, Division of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Social Sciences Position Summary: Teach and assess student learning outcomes in Art History courses. Develop and promote curriculum designed both as transfer courses to four-year colleges/universities, and applied degree programs. In collaboration with colleagues, be responsible for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement within the context of IVCC's general education philosophy. Facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in student activities, college, and community events; and assist with student recruitment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Learner-centered Teaching: Teach courses according to relevant student learning objectives. Regularly assess student learning to continuously improve instruction. Endorse learner-centered scheduling, including evening and Saturday courses, extension courses, and /or distance learning. Curriculum Development: Develop and/or revise course(s) in collaboration with colleagues. Propose and develop inter and/or intra-divisional course offerings. Technology: Integrate instructional technology as appropriate in the discipline, including exploration of on-line course delivery and web-based course components. Involvement: Support IVCC's Student Development activities and participate in divisional and/or college-wide committees. Participate in institutional and community activities. Assist in recruitment of students. Professional Development: Initiate and maintain active participation in professional development opportunities that encompass the discipline, and teaching effectiveness. ILLINOIS VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR IN ART HISTORY Revised: May 19, 2026 Page 2 of 2 QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Art History; or Master's in Art, or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) with 18 graduate credits in Art History; or a Master's in a related field with 18 graduate credits in Art History. Graduate coursework must be from an accredited college/university. Previous teaching experience at the college level preferred. Experience or familiarity with online teaching preferred. Familiarity with digital accessibility standards. Online instructors should have residence in Illinois. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the community college.
