JOB DESCRIPTION: The PreK-6 Art Teacher provides engaging, developmentally appropriate visual arts instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and artistic skills in students. The teacher integrates art history, techniques, and cross-curricular connections while supporting a positive and inclusive classroom environment. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include but not be limited to): Plan and deliver standards-based visual arts instruction for students in PreK through 6th grade Develop age-appropriate lessons that introduce a variety of media, techniques, and art concepts Incorporate elements of art (line, shape, color, texture, form, space) and principles of design Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities Integrate art with other subject areas when appropriate Foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through artistic exploration Encourage student self-expression and appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives Provide constructive feedback to support student growth and confidence Assess student learning through projects, portfolios, and informal/formal evaluations Maintain accurate records of student progress Communicate student achievement with families and staff as needed Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom activities Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and community Coordinate art shows, exhibits, or special projects/events Support school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture Stay current with best practices in art education and child development Uphold district policies and state standards Maintain professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct

SALARY: Per the Redford Union Education Association.
