Asset & Fleet Operations Manager
Location: Houston, TX 77041 (Onsite)
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Salary: $70,000-$80,000 annually + bonus potential
Schedule: Monday-Friday, early start (5:30-6:00 AM)
An established and fast-paced organization in Houston is seeking a hands-on, driven Asset & Fleet Operations Manager to take full ownership of fleet and asset operations. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to executive leadership (initially), offering the opportunity to make an immediate impact.
Position Overview
This role oversees approximately $1M in fleet, tools, equipment, and inventory assets, ensuring materials and resources are properly tracked, maintained, and readily available to support field operations.
This position requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a shop environment and capable of balancing both strategic oversight and day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities
Manage fleet operations for approximately 30 vehicles, including maintenance, repairs, registrations, and dispatching
Track and maintain all company-owned tools, equipment, and materials
Implement and manage asset tracking systems (barcode, QR, RFID, etc.)
Lead inventory control, audits, and reconciliations
Oversee purchasing and vendor coordination
Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs related to fleet and asset performance
Prepare weekly and monthly reports with actionable insights
Identify and drive process improvements across operations
Collaborate with project teams and field leadership to ensure operational readiness
Required Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in fleet management, asset management, inventory management, or operations leadership
Experience with dispatching and fleet maintenance
Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
Familiarity with tools and equipment in construction, industrial, or similar environments
Strong communication skills and a self-starter mindset
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with fleet management or asset tracking systems/software
Bilingual in Spanish
Military background, particularly in logistics or quartermaster roles
Experience with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Team and Work Environment
Supervisory responsibility for 3 direct reports

Shop-based work environment (air conditioning installation in progress)
