Step into the plant and shape uptime from day one
At our Columbia, SC site, you’ll arrive each morning ready to make a measurable impact on equipment reliability across a complex nuclear fuel manufacturing environment. Reporting to the EFIN Manager, you’ll work primarily onsite (with the possibility of one work-from-home day per week to be determined at a later date) and serve as the technical expert who turns life-cycle asset data into smarter maintenance strategies and better performance—at lower total cost.
Your work will be grounded in life cycle asset management, using a full toolkit—RCM and RCA to define strategy, PM and PdM to drive execution, and continuous improvement to lock in gains. You’ll apply methods such as FMEA, RCM, Root Cause Analysis, Total Cost of Ownership, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Weibull and statistical analyses to evaluate asset behavior, pinpoint risks, and document results that matter.
What a typical week looks like
- Walk the manufacturing floor to map processes, systems, and equipment interdependencies.
- Run criticality, risk priority, RCM, and FMEA studies to target the right maintenance at the right intervals.
- Design and refine PM and PdM programs aligned to failure modes and available technologies.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analyses and translate findings into practical reliability improvements.
- Monitor MTBF, MTTR, OEE, and other metrics; publish reliability reports that drive continuous improvement.
- Lead reliability-based projects and implement changes using Management of Change (MOC) methods.
- Resolve obsolescence by identifying equivalent parts and writing specifications for replacements.
- Support the design, construction, operation, and troubleshooting of fuel manufacturing facilities.
- Build technical depth in Safety Basis with guidance from an Engineering Mentor in a nuclear environment.
- Collaborate across teams to address issues impacting nuclear manufacturing facility construction and operations, including CFFF and the LEU+ manufacturing site.
- Strengthen relationships with internal stakeholders and external Westinghouse customers.
Skills you’ll bring
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- 4+ years of engineering experience that includes reliability engineering, plus 4+ years in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency with data collection, statistical analysis, and reliability tools (FMEA, RCA, RCM, Weibull, Life Cycle and Total Cost analyses).
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Strong technical design/analysis mindset; unwavering commitment to safety and quality.
- CMRP certification or the ability to obtain it; familiarity with reliability software.
- Willingness to travel on a limited basis.
