ROLE OVERVIEW:
Assistant plant operators are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant and must adhere to safety regulations at all times.
The typical schedule is Monday - Friday 5:00 AM - 6:00 PM during production season. Typical schedule during maintenance season is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The schedule may vary due to weather and customer demand.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
- Obey all safety rules and work in a safe manner.
- Work alone or work with other employees in a friendly & cooperative manner.
- Be self motivated.
- Be receptive to ongoing education about products and how they work.
- Operate a motor vehicle
- Operate hand tools and safety equipment including but not limited to: grease guns, wrenches, shovels, fire hoses and cutting torches and stick welding.
- Perform routine plant maintenance, including clean up.
- Inspect plant for necessary maintenance and complete repairs as assigned.
- Communicate inspections to supervisor.
- Assist with operations of asphalt plant and maintenance as directed by supervisor.
- Be able to work at heights.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- or one to three months related experience and/or training;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Driver's license preferred but not required.
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance including attending training.
- This position may require you to wear a half mask respirator at times and therefore, you will be required to be fit tested. Per OSHA "The Respiratory Protection standard, paragraph 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A), states that respirators shall not be worn when facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function. Facial hair is allowed as long as it does not protrude under the respirator seal, or extend far enough to interfere with the devices valve function. Short mustaches, sideburns, and small goatees that are neatly trimmed so that no hair compromises the seal of the respirator usually do not present a hazard and, therefore, do not violate paragraph 1910.134(g)(1)(i).
