ASSISTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETIC COACH Job Description Job Title: Assistant Middle School Athletic Coach Location: Caroline Middle School, 13325 Devils Three Jump Rd., Milford, VA Reports To: Head Coach / Athletic Director Employment Type: Stipend (paid in two installments during the season) Position Summary Caroline Middle School is seeking a dependable and supportive Assistant Coach to help provide a positive, safe, and developmentally appropriate athletic experience for student-athletes. The Assistant Coach will work under the direction of the Head Coach to support practices, competitions, skill development, supervision, and overall team operations. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach with practices, games, and team activities. Teach and reinforce fundamental skills, strategies, conditioning, and sportsmanship. Help supervise student-athletes and maintain a safe environment. Support equipment, uniform, facility, and game-day responsibilities. Provide positive instruction, encouragement, and constructive feedback to athletes. Model professional and respectful behavior consistent with school and district expectations. Support academic, attendance, eligibility, conduct, and team standards. Communicate professionally with coaches, athletes, parents, staff, and officials. Attend required meetings and training sessions. Perform additional team duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge or experience in the sport being coached. Ability to work effectively with middle school-aged student-athletes. Ability to pass a background check and meet district employment requirements. Previous coaching or playing experience preferred. CPR/First Aid and NFHS coaching certifications preferred or willingness to obtain. Personal Attributes Positive, dependable, and team-oriented. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Patient and enthusiastic when working with young athletes. Committed to sportsmanship, inclusion, effort, and student development. Working Conditions Practices and games are primarily after school and may include evenings or weekends. The position may require indoor and outdoor activity, standing for extended periods, demonstrating drills, and moving athletic equipment.
