The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the branch. The ABM ensures the efficient delivery of courteous and professional customer service and supports the Branch Manager by ensuring all operational functions are completely and properly performed by the staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Demonstrates proficiency in Universal Banker job duties and performs such duties as assigned.
- Oversees banking services, especially customer service, to ensure excellence; contacts or assists customers and prospective customers.
- Makes judgments (within limits of authority) pertaining to cashing and/or accepting checks or drafts, solves problems, and assists with complex transactions. Approves transactions within the assigned authority limits.
- Assists with inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Assists Universal Bankers in locating cash discrepancies.
- Completes NSF and overdraft report daily.
- Creates a positive team environment in the banking center by modeling appropriate behaviors.
- Mentors new staff to ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures for the first 90-days and makes a recommendation of additional training or areas of improvement. Provides on-the-job training for staff on an as-needed basis.
- Schedules branch personnel to provide coverage for the opening and closing of the branch; maintains and stays abreast of security policies and procedures.
- Supervises and counsels’ employees as needed including annual performance reviews.
- Reviews and approves timecards and time off requests for branch staff.
- Demonstrates awareness, commitment and dedication to servicing customers and building customer franchise: contributes to sales referrals and cross-selling programs related to all products; participates in both internal and external branch sales activities.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and obtains necessary approvals and authorizations when necessary.
- Promotes leadership skill examples to branch employees; i.e. professional dress, customer service skills, positive attitude, etc.
- Follows current loans and lines of credit to ensure complete compliance with terms.
- Manages loan requests along with the understanding of the loan policy and loan procedures.
- Performs assigned monthly alarm testing and audits for Universal Bankers, vault activities, and cashier’s checks, while ensuring timely completion of the monthly Security Report.
- Participates in activities for generating new business such as sales campaigns, referrals and events and assists the branch manager in efforts to reach profit, performance, and customer service goals.
- Verifies that all internal logs (Visitor Log, Destruction Log etc.) are completed accurately.
- Assists lenders in communicating with and following up with clients, title agencies, and attorneys; keeping the client informed and promptly responding to the client’s questions and concerns.
- Uploads final loan documents into Sageworks.
- Submits closed loan documents to Loan Ops for file keeping.
- Assists customers with deposit and cash management accounts.
- Provides loan and deposit account statements to customers as requested.
- Administers construction draws.
- Assists Lenders with customers in gathering information requested for loan documentation.
- Reviews loan exception reports for information as needed. (i.e. Tax Returns, PFS, Documentation)
- Assists and enters mortgage loan applications.
- Completes loan closing in the event that the lender is unavailable.
- Generates payoff letters.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES: - Knowledgeable of various Federal Regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Regulation B, Regulation E, Regulation CC, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, etc. and their roles and responsibilities relating to each act.
- Ability to prioritize and make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction issues with Bank exposure to loss or fraud.
- Knowledgeable of Federal and State mandated consumer disclosure requirements (i.e. Loan Estimate; the Mortgage Servicing Disclosure Requirement; and Truth-In-Lending Disclosure Statement).
- Strong personal and professional leadership skills.
- Understanding of banking regulatory matters and procedures for proper operation.
- Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective communications in working with officers, co-workers, the public, and vendors.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING: - High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous Banking experience required
- Minimum Associates Degree preferred.
- Previous Banking experience preferred
- 3+ years cash handling or sales experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
