Position Description

Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. The Project Controls Group is an Org Unit within the Project Delivery Division. This group is responsible for monitoring all projects within the Division utilizing, scheduling, reporting and financial management tools to assist Project Managers in the budgeting, tracking & reporting of projects and programs managed in the Division. This position will report to the Project Controls Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

Project Controllers are responsible for:

Monitoring all agreements to ensure invoicing, and contract scope is met.

Ensuring that procurement requests are accurately entered into the procurement portal.

Scheduling and authorizing timely payments on projects within the division.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:

Requires a minimum of two years project or construction management or related experience and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provide an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business, Finance or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project management software like Primavera P6 and MS Project & data analysis and reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, and advanced Excel
  • Understanding and application of earned value management (EVM) techniques for measuring project performance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for collaborating with project teams and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address project issues proactively.
  • The ability to read and evaluate contract documents
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills for working effectively with various teams.
  • CCM, PMP or EVP certifications are a plus?

Additional Information

The full salary range for this position is $52.04 to $60.59 per hour.
