    Job Description

    The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery is recruiting an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRC) for the Childern''s Communication Center (CCC).

    Under the supervision of a Clinical Research Supervisor, the incumbent will perform entry-level duties related to the support and coordination of clinical research and outreach activities and may receive training and development to prepare and advance for journey-level work at the next level within the series.

    Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

    • Assistance with coordination and in-person participation in on-site and off-site CCC clinical research andoutreach activities.

    • Telephone survey administration

    • Database management and data entry while maintaining data quality

    • Review of medical charts and electronic records to extract medical information and other data for use in studies

    • Help with the recruitment, enrollment, registration, scheduling, and retention of study participants

    • Assistance to research personnel to keep patients on study schedules

    • Administrative support for research study activity (including working with the UCSF Committee for Human Research and other regulatory agencies)

    • Performance of other duties as assigned

    The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

    Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.     Required Qualifications:

    • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities; and/or equivalent experience/training.
    • Computer experience: Microsoft applications, FileMaker pro, REDCap, video and photo editing software
    • Demonstrate attention to detail, complete projects on time, prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines, collaborate effectively with team members, adapt to changing priorities, and communicate clearly

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1-3 years of experience working with children ages 0-18 years in a classroom or clinical setting
    • At least 1 year of experience working with deaf/hard-of-hearing children and their families
    • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish or Cantonese)
    • Fluency in the usage of Committee of Human Research (CHR) online iMEDris system for submission, renewal, and modification of protocols through this system.
    • Understanding the patient population to create rapport and a relationship while also giving insight into what is realistic and appropriate for patient participation.
    • Experience with electronic medical records.
    • Experience with REDCap database structure, maintenance, management and/or creation
    • Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and HIPPA regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.); knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing/shipping infectious substances, database building/analysis, and data management within some of the following: Access, Stata, SASS/ SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines
    • Prior experience as a teacher of children with special needs
    • Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:
