ABOUT THE ROLE

A growing equipment finance and leasing platform is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support all aspects of accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will partner closely with finance leadership and play a key role in month-end close, balance sheet management, lease accounting, audit support, lender reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a "do-er"who enjoys working across the full accounting function and helping build scalable processes in a growing organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP and internal reporting standards
  • Own key balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Monitor and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support lender reporting requirements
  • Support accounting for lease originations, modifications, and terminations
  • Assist with interest income, fee income, depreciation, impairment, and residual value accounting
  • Support CECL and allowance calculations in partnership with finance leadership
  • Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting schedules for external auditors
  • Assist with accounting policy development and internal control enhancements
  • Support state, local, and other compliance-related filings
  • Assist with covenant reporting and lender requests
  • Prepare supporting schedules and financial information used for bank reporting
  • Ensure reporting accuracy and completeness
  • Identify opportunities to improve close processes, reconciliations, and reporting workflows
  • Support automation and accounting system enhancement initiatives
  • Provide guidance on reconciliations, documentation standards, and accounting processes
  • Partner closely with accounting and finance leadership to support organizational growth
  • Support additional accounting, reporting, and finance projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • 5 10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience within equipment leasing, equipment finance, lending, or financial services preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and external audits
  • Strong balance sheet and operational accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination of both backgrounds will be considered
  • Proven ability to improve processes and operate effectively in a hands-on environment
