Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller role will be responsible for supporting, coordinating, and overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls. In addition, this role will partner with highly skilled professionals across the business to ensure accurate financial data, streamline processes, and support month-end and audit activities. This candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about maintaining financial integrity and operational excellence. In addition, the person in this role will have the mentality to think like a business owner and take a proactive yet collaborative approach to accomplishing organizational goals. This position reports directly to the Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

Here's what you'll do:

• Prepare all monthly financial reports, manage the general ledger, and serve as a technical advisor for accessing accounting systems.
• Coordinate the annual budget process and work with external auditors during the year-end audit.
• Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time.
• Collaborate with the regional controller on regional strategy, projects, acquisitions, and growth initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely financial data analysis.
• Develop and maintain internal control structures and procedures for financial reporting.
• Resolve complex financial reporting issues.
• Manage the audit process and work with external auditors on accounting and reporting matters.
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of internal reports, ensuring quality, reliability, and timeliness.
• Provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and regulations.
• Summarize findings on financial reports for senior management, auditors, and regulators.
• Lead and support future integration projects, lead the team through change, and participate in staff development.

You'll be successful if you have:

• 10+ years of experience in accounting with a progressive track record.
• At least 7 years of management/supervisory experience.
• Prior experience in the healthcare industry (1+ years).
• Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial reporting tools.
• In-depth knowledge of accounting functions, including general ledger, cost accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Up-to-date understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
• Management expertise to guide and develop assigned staff.
