The Assistant Corporate Controller is responsible for helping the Corporate Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of a company, ensuring everything is done correctly. This role is crucial in helping to ensure that the company’s financial records are accurate, compliant with regulations, and effectively managed to support decision-making at higher levels of the organization. The Assistant Corporate Controller also helps ensure the company has efficient and effective accounting systems in place.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), depending on the location requirements.
Aid in the process of developing annual budgets and forecasts, collaborating with other departments to ensure financial projections.
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or errors in financial reporting.
Help with the oversight of day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Ensure the organization complies with all financial regulations and tax laws, working with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
Provide financial analysis to help management understand business performance and make strategic decisions.
Handling preparation for tax returns.
Aid in the renewal of business licenses, filing of annual reports, and personal property tax assessments.
Competent with financial software and technology.
Mentor the accounting teams, providing leadership and ensuring continuous development of staff.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Five (5) plus years of experience in accounting or finance.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.
Leadership and team management.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and tax laws.
