Description
Assistant Director – Program Services / Children’s Services
Full-Time Position
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director to support the overall operations, staff supervision, and program development within a children’s services environment. This is a leadership role ideal for professionals with a strong background in special education and program administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Director with daily program operations and oversight
Supervise, support, and evaluate direct care and clinical staff
Participate in recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and agency policies
Assist with program budgeting, reporting, and departmental planning
Support curriculum recommendations and classroom placement decisions
Serve as liaison between families, school districts, and community partners
Facilitate student transitions to appropriate educational placements
Support Quality Assurance initiatives and program development
Contribute to staff training and in-service education
Participate in agency committees and special projects
Qualifications:
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Proficiency with computers, email, and standard software
Ability to interact effectively with staff, families, and outside partners
Familiarity with adaptive equipment (including wheelchairs)
Education & Experience Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Special Education
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Special Education Teacher
Minimum four (4) years of experience in School Administration
New York State Permanent Certification – Special Education Teacher
New York State Permanent Certification – School Administrator / Supervisor
Valid New York State Driver’s License (in good standing)
