The mission of the Undergraduate Admissions Office is to meet the established University enrollment goals by recruiting undergraduate applicants. Our goal is to recruit applicants who can contribute to and profit from the University in academic programs and activities; assisting prospects and applicants in realizing their academic ambitions through counseling; accurately and efficiently reviewing academic credentials and notifying applicants of decisions; and providing the University community with data necessary for advising and enrollment planning. Our mission statement is "to provide quality service, promote quality service, promote educational opportunities and facilitate enrollment at the University" We value our position as the first contact a prospective student or the general public may have with the University. Providing timely and accurate information and effectively monitoring the admissions process is critical to the successful recruitment of qualified students. Functionally, the office staff works closely with the faculty and support units on campus and with high school counselors, parents, and community college counselors off-campus

Primary Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director of Regional Recruitment will be primarily responsible for undergraduate student recruitment and representing UNC Charlotte in the assigned territory of Raleigh, North Carolina. This person will focus on extensive recruitment travel within the territory, identifying target markets, reading applications generated from students in that region, and implementing programs and initiatives designed to recruit and enroll new undergraduates. This person will represent the University in a variety of settings and will be responsible for establishing relationships, partnerships, and enrollment pipelines in the assigned territory. They will also be responsible for providing customer service through email, phone calls and virtual meetings, travel planning, materials and records management, and compiling statistical data relating to the territory. The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, independent, goal oriented, and a skilled communicator. It is preferred that the candidate live in the Raleigh, N.C. area for ease of travel.

Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • This position will serve as the territory manager for the Raleigh, N.C., and Eastern N.C. region.
  • Territory management will include advising and counseling prospective students on opportunities available to them at UNC Charlotte, planning extensive recruitment travel to high schools and college fairs across the region, coordinating regional recruitment programming, and reading and evaluating first-year applicants from that territory.
  • Along with supporting general student inquiry volume, this position will also be tasked with building out and increasing the recruitment funnel for their territory.
  • Success will include building relationships with community organizations and school counselors, effective data and pipeline management, and extensive outreach and communication to prospective students and families in that territory.
  • The person in this role will be required to occasionally come to campus in Charlotte, North Carolina, for large-scale recruitment events and training.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Prior college admissions experience with increasing levels of responsibility in college admissions.
  • Demonstrated professional familiarity with the Wake County and Eastern N.C. student recruitment landscape, including regional demographics and high school counselor networks.
  • Willingness to live in the Raleigh, N.C. area, travel domestically, and work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Necessary Certifications/Licenses

A valid U.S. driver's license and the ability to fly domestically are required.
