Role Summary

Borr Drilling is looking for talented professionals with Jack-Up rig experience, permanent authorization to work in the United States, and an interest in national assignments to join our growing operations in U.S. waters.

To work under the direction of the Driller to support ongoing rig operations. Perform general drilling rig operations, maintenance and housekeeping duties and material preservation under supervision of the Driller while ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Borr Drilling policies and procedures. Assist other personnel as directed.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller or other supervisor
• Ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and conscientious manner and responsible for correcting or notifying responsible persons of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist
• Actively participate in and contribute to pre-shift and Toolbox Talk meetings; Observation program, weekly or special operations safety meetings and ensure any concerns or issues are reported appropriately
• Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of Company’s Integrity Management System and ensure understanding and application of updates, changes and working instructions
• Assist the Driller in the direction and supervision of the drill crew, depending upon operations being carried out, and ensure respective duties are carried out in a safe and efficient manner within the parameters of Company policies
• Attend and participate in pre-tour meeting with all drill crew members to outline details of well program and prepare for the tasks ahead
• Ensure full awareness of drilling program and ensure any anomalies are identified and rectified prior to start to minimize risk
• Prior to shift, ensure all drilling related equipment is in good condition, safe to use and fit for purpose
• Ensure all tools ran are correctly drifted, measured and ID/OD is correct
• Assist the Driller with installation of all components associated with diverter and Blowout Preventer (BOP) on the well head to execute Client’s program safely and effectively
• Assist the Driller in completing blow out prevention (BOP) drills, well control sheets, pipe tallies and equipment checks and maintain related records in accordance with Company policies and procedures
• Assist the Driller with jacking operations, preloading, pre-spud meeting etc. to ensure all drill crew members have details of the well program
• Assist with repositioning the derrick, substructure and related drilling equipment over the well
• Responsible for the measurement of all Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA), drill pipe and tubulars that are to be run into hole
• Assist with all preparations and rig ups associated with spudding the well
• Supervise making up the BHA and stand the drill collars back in the derrick
• Assist with or operate the rig’s hoisting equipment, rotary table, along with supervising the drill crew in connecting and running tools and equipment required to construct the well bore as per instructions
• Monitor drilling instruments during drilling and once bit is on the bottom to ascertain bottom hole conditions, drill stem and well bore performance
• Assist cementing and other service companies with running tools and supervise the drill crew with the procedures
• Complete all required drill logs including documenting all down-hole equipment used in constructing the well bore and assist the Driller in completing any additional reports as required
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of well control procedures and be able to recognize and appropriately act on signs of well kick or blowout before it into an emergency situation
• Assist the Driller with conducting well control drills to ensure all drill crew are trained to recognize signs of and resolve abnormal well condition situations as directed by OIM and Client
• Assist the Driller with securing the drill floor in an abnormal well control situation to limit, as much as possible, danger to life. Report to OIM as soon as safely possible after the event, detailing conditions and procedures taken to resolve well control event for future investigation and preventive action
• Perform maintenance and equipment safety checks on all drilling systems as needed
• Perform routine maintenance and prepare for next phase of drilling program as directed
• Assist in the supervision of the preventative maintenance program for drilling equipment, accessories and other related equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping on the drill floor at all times ensuring equipment and tools are used, maintained and stored correctly and safely, or replaced as necessary, in compliance with Company policies and procedures
• Ensure all rig floor and adjacent related area safety and emergency systems are maintained in good working order and inspected by relevant persons on a timely basis
• Assist the Driller with any emergency duties as indicated by operations manual, emergency response plan and Station Bill
• Ensure good communication with deck crews and technical department to support safe and efficient drilling operations
• Ensure clear and comprehensive handovers are communicated to relief personnel
• Support, encourage and mentor subordinates to ensure they have the skills and opportunity to build job specific competencies and complete training requirements
• Ensure the job specific training matrix requirements and competency training for all subordinates is completed within required timeframes
• Personally achieve and maintain required standards for own training and competency requirements for job role
• Report to Driller any unusual occurrences encountered such as rate of penetration, mud weight, loss of circulation or other changes in hole condition
• Responsible for slipping and cutting drill line
• String up and string down the block
• Maintain all paperwork required by Borr Drilling as well as government and operator requirements.
• In the event of a fire, accident or abandonment, suspend drilling operations and implement proper emergency procedures as directed
• In case of rough weather, secure the rig floor and initiate shut-in procedures as directed by the OIM: provide assistance to other departments as necessary
• Work with assigned assessor to complete Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and where necessary, identify any areas for development. Provide demonstrable evidence to complete the assessor outcomes
• Assess personnel within their area of responsibility. Provide guidance on the Borr Competence Management System “BCAMS” and assist with the collation of appropriate evidence ensuring assessments conducted are legible, authentic, current, sufficient and reliable to meet the requirements of Internal Verification

• Gas Tester
• Cyber Base Course, would be advantageous

Experience

• Experience of conducting and supervising offshore drilling operations
• Previous experience working in the capacity as an Assistant Driller
• Previous experience working on similar MODUs
• Demonstrate previous experience and competence as a Derrickman
• Advanced safety knowledge and safety leadership abilities
• Effective communication skills: Fluency in written and spoken English required
