Job Overview:
Asthe Assistant General Manager, you will support the General Manager in effectively managing and operating the community to enhance the property value and resident experience. You will contribute to strategic initiatives, financial operations, vendor management, and building positive relationships with residents and vendors.
Compensation: $65K annually.
FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Your Responsibilities:
- Partner with the General Manager to direct and oversee the overall business operations of the community, exercising independent judgment in operational, compliance, and resident service decisions
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Board of Directors to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives and long-term community plans
- Lead financial management activities as needed, including development and administration of budgets, analysis of financial reports, and oversight of revenue and expenditures
- Establish and execute communication strategies with residents, including oversight of newsletters, community updates and meetings
- Direct community maintenance operations, including setting priorities, evaluating performance and ensuring effective vendor execution and quality outcomes
- Manage vendor relationships, including selection, contract negotiation, performance evaluation, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
- Resolve complex resident matters by evaluating issues, determining appropriate actions, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery
- Support and influence Board operations by preparing materials, providing recommendations, and ensuring execution of Board decisions and policies
- Ensure organizational compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as governing documents, through proactive oversight and decision-making
- Administer and interpret compliance programs, applying discretion and independent judgment in enforcement of community standards
- Build and maintain professional relationships with residents, vendors, and staff, promoting collaboration and operational effectiveness
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements related to community management to inform decision-making and continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, vendors, and team members
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, capable of addressing issues proactively
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Adaptable and flexible, capable of adjusting to changing demands and priorities
- Demonstrates a proactive mindset in identifying and addressing issues before they escalate
Education and Experience:
- Education related to or certifications in property management are preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time in an office environment
- Able to safely lift, carry, and move up to 30 pounds
Work Location: Surprise, AZ 85379
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8a -5p
Travel requirements: Regular travel with use of personal vehicle throughout the community as needed. Eligible for reimbursement mileage per IRS rates.
Other: There are 4 mandatory ‘all hands-on deck’ events…Easter event (usually Saturday before), July 4th, October event (usually right before Halloween) and December event (beginning of December). This will require extra hours to be worked and may occur on a weekend day.
