    High School IT Support Technician Assistant - Flat Rate

    Department: Information Services

    Employment Status: Part-Time | Student Position

    Locations: Indianapolis, Indiana

    Position Summary

    The IT Support Technician Apprentice provides technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, software, and networks, while completing a structured, multi-year apprenticeship program. This role serves as the first point of contact for users experiencing technical difficulties and is responsible for responding to queries, running diagnostics, isolating problems, and implementing solutions under the guidance of experienced IT staff. Apprentices gain hands-on exposure across a variety of settings, including corporate environments, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and managed service providers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in structured learning experiences, including orientation, competency-based training, simulations, technology observations, and career development activities

    • Install, configure, and maintain computer equipment, mobile devices, and software for end users

    • Service hardware components based on customer requirements and organizational standards

    • Configure and troubleshoot networking equipment and connections

    • Apply basic cybersecurity practices to mitigate threats and protect organizational assets

    • Diagnose, resolve, and document common hardware and software issues

    • Provide customer support with professionalism and clear communication

    • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls

    • Implement backup and recovery procedures

    • Support virtualization and cloud-based technologies

    • Maintain accurate documentation and follow operational procedures

    • Engage positively with colleagues, clients, and end users while supporting the organization's mission and values

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Current high school student entering the 11th grade

    • Commitment to complete a two year apprenticeship program through the end of 12th grade

    • Enrolled and in good academic and attendance standing at a local high school

    • Demonstrated interest in pursuing an IT or technology related career

    • Ability to successfully complete all required orientation, training, and competency requirements

    • Successful completion of pre employment requirements, including background check and any required drug screening

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to professionalism and teamwork

    Experience

    • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience preferred

    • Previous volunteer work, school based tech clubs or programs, or community service experience is beneficial but not required
