Position Summary


The Assistant Manager plays a key role in the daily operation and success of the swim school. This position supports the Chief of Staff by leading staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining safety standards, overseeing daily operations, and driving enrollment and retention goals. The Assistant Manager serves as a coach, problem-solver, and leader who helps create a positive experience for both families and employees.


The ideal Assistant Manager is a servant leader who enjoys developing people, building relationships with families, and creating a safe, high-energy environment where children gain confidence through swimming. They are organized, proactive, customer-focused, and capable of balancing operational responsibilities with team leadership and business goals.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and support the daily operations of the swim school, ensuring a safe, clean, and positive environment for families and staff.
• Coach, train, and develop swim instructors, shift leads, and customer service team members.
• Assist with interviews, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management of staff.
• Ensure high-quality swim instruction and consistent execution of the swim curriculum.
• Build strong relationships with families by delivering exceptional customer service and resolving concerns professionally.
• Monitor class enrollment, staffing needs, and program capacity to support business goals.
• Conduct swim assessments and assist families with class placement recommendations.
• Enforce safety standards, policies, and emergency procedures at all times.
• Oversee daily facility operations, including opening/closing procedures, cleanliness, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and communication related to operations, staff, and customer needs.
• Be involved with the curriculum by leading classes, performing evaluations, and structuring in-service meetings.

Requirements

• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
• A passion for swimming and aquatic education is essential; prior experience in swim instruction is required.
• Previous experience in a swim school or aquatics program, in a supervisory or training role.
• Strong knowledge of swim instruction techniques and curriculum delivery for children.
• Passion for mentoring and developing others
• CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
