The Division of Biological and Biomedical Systems (BBS) in the School of Science andEngineering (SSE) in the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) invites applications for a full-time tenure track/tenure-eligible faculty position in Biomedical Engineering at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We encourage applications from individuals who employ engineering, scientific, and technological approaches to address questions in the life sciences. Preferences will be given to engineering candidates working on Biomaterials, Biomedical Imaging, Neural Engineering, or Computational Biomedical Engineering, but other areas will be considered.
Applicants must possess a Ph. D., M.D., D.D.S., or D.V.M. Successful candidates will (1) demonstrate excellence in research, including initiating or continuing an independent extramurally funded research program or serving as a principal investigator in largercollaborative team, (2) have a strong commitment to teaching in the classroom and mentoring students in the laboratory (undergraduate and graduate students) and (3) engage in divisional, school, or university services appropriate to the position. At least two years of postdoctoralexperience is recommended.

The School of Science and Engineering has the largest enrollment, and the largest research portfolio at UMKC. The Biomedical Engineering Program became a separate, official program in Fall 2023 and as part of BBS grants BS, BA, BS/MS, MA, MS, and PhD degrees, including BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering.
Interdisciplinary and multi-campus collaboration programs involve the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nursing as well as St Luke's Medical Center, Children's Mercy Research Institute, and Stowers Institute for Medical Research. UMKC has more than 16,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and is part of the larger University of Missouri System.
