United Independent School District Department of Human Resources ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL / SPECIAL POPULATION Elementary Campus Assignment Primary Purpose: Assist school principal in the administration duties and instructional programs for all special populations. Coordinate assigned campus activities and services. Achieve and maintain standards of excellence for all students in the content areas with a strong emphasis in the Science of Reading. Funded by Title I, Part A with the primary purpose of building and maintaining a strong foundation of reading and math as well as supporting teachers by reinforcing grant activities aimed at improving academic achievement for students struggling to meet academic standards. Educational Qualifications: Master's Degree Principal, Principal as Instructional Leader, or Mid-Management Certificate TEXAS-Teacher Evaluation Support System (T-TESS) TEXAS-Principal Evaluation Support System (T-PESS) preferred Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD Grandfathered) Certificate At least five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher preferred Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction The ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness The ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate campus functions The ability to explain policy, procedures, and data Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties:
