Job Description

The Department of Statistics at Stanford University seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in any area of Statistics or Probability, broadly understood. Applicants should exhibit the potential to run a world-leading independent research program and should possess strong communication skills and a commitment to teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D in statistics, data science, computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline at the time of appointment and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2027. \n \nCandidates should apply through Stanford Faculty Positions and submit\n\n Cover letter\n \n\n Curriculum vitae (including a complete publication list)\n \n\n Research statement (2 pages, not including references) \n \n\n Teaching statement (1 page, not including references)\n \n\n Up to 2 representative publications or preprints\n \n\n Contact information for at least three letters of recommendation\n \n\n \nThe salary range for this position is $138,586-168,435 for the academic year 2026-27. \n \nStanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position upon hire.
