The George Washington University's Department of Counseling and Human Development School Counseling Program is seeking applicants for a non-tenure-accruing specialized faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning as early as Summer 2026. The Counseling and Human Development Department has a strong identity in diversity, disability, and counseling research. The Department espouses an anti-racist and anti-oppressive stance as it engages in its mission of teaching, research, and service.

Responsibilities: The Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the School Counseling Program will provide comprehensive oversight for the school counseling program, with an approximate enrollment 35 students. This 12-month appointment includes teaching 6 courses within the school counseling program and across programs within the Department of Counseling and Human Development. Additionally, this role includes the administrative duties of the School Counseling Program, including advising, enrollment, scheduling of courses, and other administrative duties as needed. Services responsibilities include engaging in departmental, school, and university committees as needed, dissertation committee engagement, and other service activities as identified by the department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Oversight

• Serve as the Administrative lead for the school counseling program, and clinic within the school counseling program.
• Engage with Office of Student Life and other program coordinators within the department to recruit, provide information sessions and interview prospective students,
• Advise school counseling students
• Coordinate with the School Counseling clinic director to ensure students are meeting clinical expectations of the course
• Collaborate with supervisors (internal and external), faculty, the Director of the School Counseling on-site clinic director to ensure students meet the necessary requirements of the program
• Provide supports for students in need of additional professional growth
• Align the program with CACREP standards and expectations, as well as expectations of the Department and School.

Teaching and Clinical Responsibilities:

• Teach six courses across the fiscal year within the school counseling programs and across departmental programs
• Demonstrate Effective teaching, evidenced in at least one peer review per year of the contractual period, in student course evaluations, and in course reflections.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications. All applicants must have:

• Doctorate from a Counselor Education Program (CACREP accredited).
• Doctorate in counselor education with specialization in school counseling at Masters or Doctoral level
• Experience in professional school counseling
