    Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

    The mission of the Department of Accounting and Finance (ACF) is to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting and finance. We achieve this by integrating quality education with relevant research and professional service to firms, industry, and academe. This endeavor produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers with an innovative mindset and a commitment to improving and sustaining organizations in a global environment and improving the communities in which they live.

    The Department of Accounting and Finance comprises 22 full-time faculty in the accounting and finance areas. As of Spring 2026 the Department served 1147 undergraduate students and 126 students in the master's in accounting program and provides courses to support 188 students in the MBA program. All ACF programs are offered both online and in person.

    Our finance faculty are active in research and have published in journals such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Finance and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, The American Economic Review, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Management Science, Review of Accounting Studies, and other very-high quality journals.

    The Bryan School of Business and Economics has 4,765 undergraduate and graduate students and over 130 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades. Additionally, in recent years, its tenure-stream faculty members averaged 2 to 3 peer-reviewed journal articles each, among them 15-20 in FT50 journals plus another 20-25 in other 4 or 4* journals (CABS AJG), in addition to books and grants. The Bryan School has two dedicated recording studios and two dedicated HyFlex (studio) classrooms to support its extensive asynchronous online offerings and the growing opportunity for synchronous online offerings.

    Position Summary

    The Bryan School of Business and Economics is seeking a qualified applicant for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Finance (tenure-track) in the Department of Accounting and Finance, beginning August 1, 2027. Candidates from all areas of finance are encouraged to apply; however, the successful candidate is expected to incorporate artificial intelligence meaningfully into their teaching and research.

    The School is especially interested in candidates whose expertise will strengthen departmental teaching and research needs while also contributing to the Bryan School's broader capacity to prepare students and faculty to understand, evaluate, and use AI tools responsibly and effectively. Once established, the faculty is expected to serve as a resource to enable other faculty to increase the infusion of artificial intelligence in the curriculum.

    The University emphasizes high-quality research and teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses delivered both online and in person. Service to the University and the academic and/or professional communities is also expected.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The following minimum qualifications are required:

    • A Doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS-accredited school with a specialization in Finance or a related field. ABDs who expect completion by August 1, 2027, may be considered.
    • Evidence of engagement with artificial intelligence, which may include research, teaching, coursework, professional experience, curriculum development, applied projects, or other demonstrated uses of AI tools or methods.
