The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking Research Assistant Professor(s) of Neurosurgery on our Research Faculty-Research Support track. Candidates include PhDs with expertise in Cerebrovascular diseases and Brain Injury, such as stroke, aneurysm and vascular malformations, intracerebral hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury. They will be expected to make substantial and critical contributions in team or collaborative science projects.

Responsibilities include:

Lead lab efforts in histology and quantitative imaging, rodent models, hypothesis-driven designs, data synthesis, statistical analyses, and/or more relevant lab activities.

Assist in our applications for internal and external grants to support our research, and ultimately apply for grants as PI or co-PI.

Present at relevant conferences, and serve as lead and supporting authors on publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Support medical student and resident education and research.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in neurosciences or related fields and at least two years of post- doctoral training.

A proven history of publication in peer-reviewed journals is also required.
