Job Description

Core Faculty & Administrative Responsibilities - 60%

As a Core Faculty member, the physician will actively participate in the education, supervision, mentorship, and professional development of Family Medicine residents.

Responsibilities include:

  • Precept Family Medicine residents during assigned patient care sessions.
  • Provide medical supervision for St. Joseph's Family Medicine at Clifton during assigned precepting sessions.
  • Participate in resident education through morning report, conferences, faculty meetings, and other educational activities.
  • Serve as a resident advisor and advocate, including regular individual meetings, mentorship, and informal resident support.
  • Participate in scholarly activity, research, and other academic initiatives.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities, team meetings, and committees.
  • Provide occasional educational presentations to patients and members of the community.
  • Share faculty on-call responsibilities, including providing medical backup to on-call residents during evenings and weekends.
  • Support the ongoing development and advancement of the Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Provide departmental coverage when necessary and appropriate based on qualifications.
  • Perform additional administrative and academic responsibilities as assigned by departmental leadership.

Attending Physician Responsibilities - 40%

The physician will maintain an active clinical practice and provide comprehensive, evidence-based Family Medicine services.

Clinical responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to patients.
  • Obtain complete patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
  • Order, perform, and interpret routine diagnostic and laboratory testing.
  • Prescribe medications, medical devices, and referrals when clinically appropriate.
  • Promote preventive medicine, health maintenance, and wellness.
  • Provide appropriate patient follow-up and continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable DNV, federal, state, local, and organizational requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and required reporting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current documentation, coding, and billing requirements.
  • Participate proportionally in evening and weekend coverage based on FTE status.
  • Participate in community education, outreach, and scientific programs as appropriate.
  • Support practice growth through physician outreach, community education, and other appropriate initiatives.
  • Utilize and support St. Joseph's Health electronic and automated systems.

St. Joseph's Health is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Family Medicine Physician to join our Family Medicine Residency Program as Core Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a physician who is passionate about graduate medical education, resident mentorship, academic medicine, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

The position offers a balanced combination of 60% Core Faculty/Administrative responsibilities and 40% clinical practice, allowing the physician to play an integral role in educating and mentoring the next generation of family physicians while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Compensation: $250,000 annually
