Assistant Project Manager

Location: Glen Allen, VA
Job Type: Long-Term Contract Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support a variety of projects in Glen Allen, VA. The Assistant Project Manager will assist Project Managers with projects of varying complexity and may independently manage smaller, less complex projects.

This position will serve as a project coordinator and liaison among clients, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders. The APM will maintain project documentation, manage databases, coordinate project activities and communications, and help ensure project goals are achieved within established schedules and budget parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of projects.
  • Manage and coordinate contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs.
  • Verify contractor compliance with project quality, safety, environmental, and material management programs.
  • Support contract execution, including change order management, field change directives, invoice approvals, and schedule management.
  • Assist with project controls activities, including project cost reporting, scheduling, project work breakdown structure development, project setup and closeout within accounting systems, and field progress tracking.
  • Assist with the development of internal and external project reports, including project budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project status reports.
  • Participate in internal and external project risk reviews and consult with the Legal Department as required.
  • Coordinate project and contract closeout activities and ensure all required documentation is completed and properly maintained.
  • Promote and support project safety and health programs, training, and policies while helping manage the safety performance of project team members and subcontractors.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with owners, contractors, project managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams to resolve design, drawing, and project execution issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience required.
    • Internship experience does not count toward the required years of professional experience.
    • Degree must be from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, including on short notice, as project needs require.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team environment, including with owners, contractors, project managers, engineers, and designers.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project deliverables.
