Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Construction

Looking for your first big step into construction project management? A growing mechanical contractor in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area wants an Assistant Project Manager who's eager to learn how large HVAC and piping projects come together.

You'll work next to seasoned project leaders and get exposure to every part of the job: paperwork, budgets, schedules, subcontractors and time in the field. It's a role where curiosity and follow-through get noticed.

What you'll do

• Assist with shop fabrication packages, material quantities and purchasing
• Walk job sites to check that mechanical and plumbing installs follow the approved plans
• Log, route and follow up on RFIs, submittals, drawings and other project documents
• Track project costs, process invoices and help build billing schedules and forecasts
• Work with field leaders to line up crews, deliveries and equipment
• Help define subcontractor scopes and keep an eye on their schedules and change orders
• Contribute to a safe jobsite through inspections and safety planning

What you bring

• Some exposure to P6 or Microsoft Project, or eagerness to learn it
• Degree in construction management or mechanical engineering, or equivalent hands-on construction management experience
• Up to 2 years of project management experience with a mechanical contractor
• Organized, a clear communicator, and comfortable juggling shifting deadlines
• Familiarity with HVAC and piping systems is a plus
• Comfort with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Viewpoint and ACC Build, plus Microsoft Office
