Assistant Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution

Position Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support transmission line, substation, and telecommunications projects for our client in Vancouver, WA. This position will assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, construction coordination, and overall project execution from initiation through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the management of multiple transmission, substation, and telecommunications projects of varying sizes and complexity.

• Monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.

• Track project costs, forecasts, commitments, and estimates at completion (EAC).

• Coordinate with engineering, construction, environmental, real estate, and project controls teams.

• Assist with project risk identification, change management, and client approval processes.

• Prepare project status reports, financial updates, and management presentations.

• Support capital planning, portfolio management, and project prioritization.

• Coordinate construction sequencing, outage planning, and field activities.

• Review engineering estimates, project scopes, schedules, and construction documentation.

• Participate in project meetings, site walkdowns, and stakeholder coordination.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in utility transmission line, substation, or related infrastructure projects. Internship experience does not count toward this requirement.

• Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, cost forecasting, and construction coordination.

• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in electric or gas utility transmission and distribution projects.

• Familiarity with ProjectWise, SharePoint, SAP, and project cost/schedule management systems.

• Experience with utility capital programs, construction sequencing, and outage planning.

• PE or PMP certification.
