Assistant Superintendent - Commercial

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the successful execution of commercial construction projects throughout Florida. This position will focus on commercial interior build-outs, tenant improvements, and renovation projects, working alongside project leadership to coordinate subcontractors, monitor construction progress, maintain quality standards, and ensure work is completed safely and according to project specifications.

The ideal candidate has hands-on commercial construction experience, particularly with interior build-outs, and understands the coordination required to keep multiple trades working efficiently. Key Responsibilities

• Support daily field operations on commercial build-out, renovation, and tenant improvement projects, ensuring construction activities align with project schedules and specifications.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain workflow, resolve scheduling conflicts, and support timely project completion.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation to verify work is performed according to approved plans.
• Monitor construction progress, identify potential delays or field issues, and communicate updates to project leadership.
• Maintain jobsite safety standards, support compliance with applicable regulations, and promote safe working practices among subcontractors.
• Conduct routine quality inspections, identify deficiencies, and coordinate corrective work to maintain construction standards.
• Assist with scheduling inspections, managing punch lists, and coordinating project closeout activities.
• Maintain accurate daily field reports, document construction progress, and communicate project needs to superintendents and project managers.

Requirements

• Experience in commercial construction, including hands-on involvement with commercial interior build-outs, tenant improvements, or renovation projects.
• Working knowledge of commercial construction methods, building materials, and trade sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors or construction trades in an active jobsite environment.
• Understanding of construction safety practices, quality control, and jobsite operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, project managers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout Florida as required by project assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Field Supervisor, Foreman, or similar commercial construction leadership role.
• Experience working with a commercial general contractor on retail, office, or other interior build-out projects.
• Familiarity with construction management software such as Procore or RedTeam.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field.
