What You'll Do:
As an Assistant Superintendent, you support the Superintendent and project team in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. Your role involves assisting in project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, safety enforcement, quality control, and compliance with construction plans and specifications.
- Facilitate daily communication with subcontractors and field staff to align on tasks and schedules.
- Assist in resolving conflicts or issues between team members or subcontractors on-site.
- Support the Superintendent in maintaining a positive morale among the project team.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
- Assist in organizing and leading safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Identify potential hazards or quality issues early and work with the Superintendent to implement corrective actions.
- Monitor daily activities for potential risks or delays and report findings to the Superintendent.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop solutions for challenges as they arise.
- Assist in implementing contingency plans for anticipated risks to minimize disruptions.
- Review drawings and specifications regularly to ensure accurate execution by subcontractors.
- Assist in verifying that subcontractors meet their contractual obligations before starting work on-site.
- Document non-compliance issues thoroughly and coordinate corrective actions with the Superintendent.
- Assist in preparing daily and weekly schedules for field activities under the guidance of the Superintendent.
- Monitor progress against schedules and report any deviations or delays promptly.
- Communicate schedule updates effectively to subcontractors and other stakeholders as directed by the Superintendent.
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience as a Asst. Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
- Deep familiarity with sequencing, methods, and OSHA safety standards.
- Proficient in field documentation, scheduling tools, and Procore.
- Skilled at reviewing and interpreting complex construction plans.
- Strong leadership and communication with both field teams and office staff.
Bonus Experience:
- Prior field experience in the trades.
- Familiarity with Louisiana subcontractors, inspectors, and permitting.
- Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred but not required).
