The Red Barn is hiring a caring and dependable Assistant Teacher to support our classrooms and help create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for young children.


We’re looking for someone who is:

• At least 18 years old
  
  
• Dependable, punctual, patient, and positive
  
  
• Comfortable actively playing and engaging with children
  
  
• Able to work as part of a teaching team
  
  
• Willing to learn and grow in early childhood education
  
  
• Previous child-care experience is helpful, but not required
  
  
• High school diploma or GED required
  
  

Licensing & Employment Requirements:

• Must meet all Tennessee Department of Human Services child-care licensing requirements
  
  
• Must successfully complete required criminal background and fingerprint checks before beginning work with children
  
  
• Must complete required DHS pre-service and ongoing annual training
  
  
• Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification within required timelines
  
  
• Must successfully complete Red Barn’s pre-employment drug screening
  
  
• Must meet all health and employment requirements applicable to the position
  
  

Physical Requirements:
This is an active position. Employees must be able to:

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and sit on the floor
  
  
• Get up and down from the floor throughout the day
  
  
• Lift and carry children and classroom materials as needed
  
  
• Safely lift up to approximately 40 pounds
  
  
• Push, pull, and move classroom equipment
  
  
• Participate in indoor and outdoor play and activities
  
  
• Respond quickly during emergencies
  
  
• Maintain visual and auditory awareness of children at all times
