Assistant Track Coach

Working closely with the boys and girls track coach at Marblehead High School, the assistant track coach will help lead a team of high school runners to practice regularly, compete at meets, attend fundraising activities, and contribute to a positive team culture. The assistant coach will support the head coach in fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, respect, commitment, integrity, and responsibility. Below are the essential qualifications, requirements, and responsibilities of the assistant track coach:

QUALIFICATION Knowledge of track techniques and strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to mentor and motivate athletes, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them achieve their goals Organizational and management skills, including the ability to help schedule and plan practices and events. Familiarity with track rules and regulations. The ability to assist in the weight room is also important.

REQUIREMENTS Experience with track and field and or coaching. Leads by example regarding the promotion of sportsmanship Must complete all Massachusetts coaching requirements, which includes the NFHS Concussion Certificate Must complete Marblehead School District requirements: Fingerprinting, CORI Background check Must complete CPR/AED and First Aid Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to monitor athletes during practice Assemble and carry equipment for set up The ability to travel between locations on a school bus.

RESPONSIBILITIES Guide and lead student-athletes through practice plans and workouts to prepare the team to compete in meets. Attend all practices and meets, including supervising on the bus to away games. Assist in communicating the team''s practice and meet schedule with the team and parents or guardians. Assist in communicating all fundraising activities with the team and parents or guardians. Assist in the process of organizing, distributing, and collecting uniforms from the team. Maintains a positive staff relationship with other coaches and the trainer. Collaborate with the varsity coach and athletic director to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements and regulations, including safety and liability issues.
