    Job Description

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, The following are indicative of the essential functions required to perform this job successfully. Other duties may be assigned by management.

    Comply with Chapter Five (5) pp. 63-537 of the Tennessee Code Annotated Rules and Regulations of the Practice of Dentistry in the State of Tennessee. Any person who performs any of the following acts shall be deemed to be practicing dentistry:

    1. Diagnoses;
    2. Prescribes medication;
    3. Treats disease, pain, deformity, deficiency, injury or physical condition of the

    teeth or jaws or associated structures;

    1. Extracts teeth;
    2. Repairs or fills cavities in teeth or jaws;
    3. Fabricates models based upon which a replacement of natural teeth by artificial substances shall be constructed;
    4. Furnishes supplies, constructs, alters, reproduces, or repairs any prosthetic dentures, bridges, crowns, appliances, or any other structure to be used or worn in the mouth as a substitute or natural teeth, except on the written work order of a licensed and registered dentist;
    5. Places and adjusts such appliances or structures in the human mouth or delivers the same to any person other than the licensed and registered dentist upon whose written order the work was performed;
    6. Offers to the public by any method to furnish, supply, construct, reproduce, reline, repair, or otherwise process any prosthetic denture, bridge, appliance, or other structure to be worn in the human mouth;
    7. Gives interpretations of dental radiographs;
    8. Administers an anesthetic of any nature in connection with a dental operation;
    9. To perform other duties as assigned;
    10. To perform age specific competency regarding patients.

    Establish regular procedures for the adequate care of emergency patients.

    Replace absent dentists or provide needed coverage at all site locations as needed. Supervise all dental personnel (ie, registered dental assistants) in his or her immediate area.

    Periodically check all dental equipment for maintenance and repair, requisition the necessary service(s)/repair(s) and report all major problems to the Dental Director immediately.

    Responsible for the maintenance of patient confidentiality and adherence to Patient Rights and Responsibilities, as issued in the New Hire Orientation

    Adheres to all MWCHC policies and procedures.

    Arrives at work on time and complies with MWCHC attendance and tardiness policies Possesses the ability to get along with co-workers, patients and visitors.

    Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
