Associate-Research

The Research Associate serves as the operational and technical backbone of the laboratory, balancing molecular assays and animal research with proactive administrative management to accelerate research goals and timelines. This role executes routine but critical experiments, including cell culture, genetic manipulations, Western blotting, and other molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, while ensuring data integrity through audit-ready documentation and SOP optimization. Learning and implementing new techniques and protocols is expected as research projects evolve. In the vivarium, the Research Associate performs mouse surgeries, treatments, tumor measurements, and other handling procedures required by research projects. Given the nature of animal research, occasional weekend and/or evening work, as well as some travel, will be required. Rigorous research record-keeping is expected across all job responsibilities, and clear, consistent, and timely communication with the supervisor on research or lab operations matters is essential to maintaining smooth workflow. This person may also assist with training and onboarding students and research staff. Beyond the bench, the position supports essential laboratory operations, including procurement, inventory control, and vendor relations, while helping maintain a safe and compliant workspace. By taking on these foundational responsibilities, the Research Associate helps ensure consistent experimental reproducibility and allows senior researchers to prioritize high-level experimental design and scientific output. This position reports directly to the Associate Professor. Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
