    In this role you will be responsible for Resident Field Service in Automation Energy Industries Service.

    Associate Resident Service Technicians perform service in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality service.

    As an Associate Resident Service Technician in Norfolk, VA you will be required to work independently and as part of a team based on customer/contract requirements.

    This role is contributing to Automation Energy Industries.

    You will be mainly accountable for:

    • Provide site service to ensure safe and efficient plant operation utilizing ABB's Distributed Control System.

    • All periodic, routine, preventive maintenance and shutdown support will be handled by you as part of your role (ABB Technical and Advanced Services will provide additional support where applicable at your direction).

    • Troubleshoot distributed control system hardware, software issues, and manage technical support requests on the customers’ behalf to optimize system performance.  

    • Respond to customer questions, issues, and inquiries with accuracy and timeliness. Maintain a “follow-up” system with customers to ensure the technical advice provided was effective.

    Work Experience: Qualifications for the role

    • High School diploma or GED required. A special combination of experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments will be considered. 

    • You will embark on a journey which will see you develop and be mentored to provide outstanding field service support of ABB's Distributed Control System. There are many career pathways in Field Service including Advanced Services, ABB University, Technical Support, Project Engineering, Commission Services, Research and Development, and Quality. Along your journey, you will get to meet many of our previous Trainees that continue to have successful careers at ABB.

    • A demonstrated commitment to excellence, effective communication, problem solving, teamwork, customer focus, and a professional attitude.

    • Applicants must speak fluent English, have a legal driver’s license, and have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

    ABB provides 11 paid holidays. Vacation is provided based on years of service for hourly and non-exempt positions. 

    While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $53,500 and $85,600 annually.
