Position Overview

The Associate Site Medical Director partners closely with the Site Medical Director to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This role blends clinical practice with leadership, supporting provider development, operational excellence, and quality improvement at the site level.

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Administrative

  • Collaborate with the Site Medical Director to mentor, supervise, and support providers
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention of medical staff
  • Promote adherence to clinical standards, policies, and workflows
  • Support implementation of strategic, operational, and access goals
  • Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety programs
  • Participate in performance reviews and provider development initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with HRSA, CMS, Joint Commission, and regulatory standards
  • Lead or support provider meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Represent the clinic in internal committees and community partnerships

 

 

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care within scope of training
  • Manage acute, chronic, and preventive care for assigned patient panel
  • Support and mentor advanced practice providers
  • Participate in quality management and peer review activities
  • Contribute to program development and care delivery improvements

Additional Responsibilities

For Pediatrics-only:

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in limited weekend coverage (minimum 3 half-day Saturdays/year)
  • Internal Medicine/Family Medicine: Participate in after-hours call coverage (minimum 2 weeks/year)
  • Pediatrics: Optional inpatient rounding opportunities based on interest
  • Opportunity to conduct pediatric inpatient hospital rounds at Marin General Hospital based on need and interest.

For Internal Medicine/Family Medicine only:

  • In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, it is required to be available to respond to after-hour calls regarding critical lab results for adult patients throughout the organization for a minimum of 2 weeks per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Support the Site Medical Director in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of medical providers and key clinical staff.
  • Assist in onboarding, training and continued development of staff.
  • Support employee performance, effectively communicate expectations and goals and provide performance feedback and evaluation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and legal work environment by upholding MCC’s policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

 

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, NP, or PA from an accredited institution
  • Active California license and DEA certification
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in a primary care specialty
  • Minimum 3 years of primary care experience (community health preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Familiarity with FQHC operations, managed care principles, and quality improvement methods preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Knowledge of managed care, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance in healthcare settings. Experience with HRSA, FTCA, CMS, CDPH, DHCS, the Joint Commission desired.
  • Experience with EHR systems (EPIC preferred).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Must be able to navigate electronic medical records and other related IT systems efficiently with training

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Expect prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with keyboard and mouse.
