Reports to: High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Summary: The job of an athletic trainer is to provide and supervise practicum opportunities for students while caring for the athletes during events. Stipends are applied to evening events for each sport season. This position will work collaboratively with the staff athletic trainer. Essential Functions: Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to keep confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate.Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.Provide athletic trainer coverage at home and away interscholastic athletic events.Comply with the comprehensive venue and condition specific emergency action plans in conjunction with the school district.Initiate and administer first aid to athletes in accordance with specific school guidelines and state law.Establish a working relationship with the Athletic Trainer, community physicians and school nursing staff.Maintain adequate records on all injuries and rehabilitative procedures.Interact with coaches, parents, medical staff and athletes.Comply with any and all policies regarding health care delivery as indicated by the school regulations and state law.Demonstrates a clear knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation and treatment techniques of the injured athlete.Demonstrates self-motivation and professional integrity. Uses work time appropriately to meet program goals.Demonstrates good judgement and independent problem-solving skills in a variety scenarios.Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. Qualifications:Currently hold Certified Athletic Trainer Certification (NATA-BOC), required.Must hold Washing State Athletic Training License.Currently hold or will hold a Master's Degree preferred.Currently have or will have earned by the start date a valid BLS certification, required. Being a First Aid/CPR Certified Instructor is preferred.Obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check Physical Requirements:Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to visual display terminals as required. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
