    Job Description

    Job Title:         Regina Athletic Trainer

    Department:        Regina Athletic Department

    Reports to:        Athletic Director - Emily Frikken

    Position Status:    Part-time, hourly pay ($30/hour)

     

    Position Summary:

    The Athletic Trainer helps manage the overall healthcare of Regina High School student athletes. The AT’s primary responsibility is home game-day coverage while maintaining lines of communication with the athlete, her family, and coaches if an injury occurs.

     

    Responsibilities include:

    • Home game-day coverage, which may include weekend coverage 
    • Managing training room (including maintaining inventory)
    • Communicating with coaches regarding limitations, further injury prevention, return-to-play protocol, etc. 
    • Evaluating the athlete to identify injury or judge the severity of the injury as directed by standard protocols
    • Treating injuries by providing emergency care and first aid procedures for the injured athletes as directed by standardized procedures and/or a physician’s recommendation
    • Designing and supervising implementation of rehabilitation programs for each injury which includes proper rehabilitation protocol as determined by established medical standards or a physician’s prescription, monitoring and documenting the individual’s progress while adjusting the program to the athlete’s tolerance and establishing a safe and gradual return to activity or the sport 
    • May be asked to come on a practice day to evaluate athlete during their return to play period
    • Performing other related duties as required 
     

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Maintains proper certification
    • Experience working with high school athletes preferred but not required
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must complete Protecting God’s Children through the Archdiocese of Detroit, if not having completed already
    • Must submit to new background check
    • Hourly salary dependent on qualifications and if contracted out by a company
