Winthrop Position Title Athletic Training/Exercise Science Adjunct Job Description

Adjunct faculty members to provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human Performance in the Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences. Teaching assignments may include Exercise Science, Health, Athletic Training, or other related disciplines and may be delivered in face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats.

Position Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course syllabi, departmental expectations, and university policies.
• Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that supports course and program learning outcomes.
• Ensure course content, instructional activities, and assessments align with applicable accreditation standards and departmental expectations.
• Maintain regular communication with students and provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance fairly and maintain accurate course records.
• Submit grades and complete all required university reporting by established deadlines.
• Foster a professional, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
• Respond promptly to departmental, college, and university communications and participate in required meetings and training as instructed.
• Comply with all university policies and procedures related to instruction, academic integrity, accessibility, and student privacy.

Position Availability Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline for undergraduate teaching; earned doctorate in the discipline or a closely related field for graduate-level teaching.
• Demonstrated expertise in the assigned teaching area.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively teach in face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid learning environments.
• Commitment to student success and excellence in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience in content area.
• Professional work or clinical experience in content area.
• Teaching experience in an online environment.

Employment Conditions

Position is part-time, non-tenure-track, adjunct.
