As a staff auditor, you will learn to conduct independent, compliance, performance, and operations audits of school districts, state agencies and local governmental entities that have multiple and diverse accounting, computer, and database systems as well as operating and personnel policies and procedures to protect public funds and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics, or statistics.
Preference may be given to applicants with a masters degree in the analytical field. Preference may be given to applicants who are Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISA), Certified Internal Auditors (CIA), or Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE).
KNOWLEDGE:
Computer skills using Microsoft software and can analyze other computer systems for controls.
Understand and make recommendations related to internal controls.
Understand government auditing standards or learn them on the job within the first year.
Understand and research the Wyoming Statutes.
Communicate well with others in person or on the phone and be able to answer questions from local government officials.
Auditing class, if not previously completed, must be completed within the first year of employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelors Degree (typically in Accounting or Finance)
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor I
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor I
