Job Summary: Provide academic, functional, and behavioral support to assigned student(s) as directed by the Autistic Support Teacher. Support the Autistic Support teacher with daily classroom routines and expectations.
Position Information:
- Full-time - with benefits, and Part-time available
- Monday-Friday, 184 days/year
- Hours per day: 7 hours
- Range 08, Starting Salary $16.00
- Autistic Support Paraprofessionals Incentive
- $1000/yr (184 days) for FT paraprofessionals (daily rate of $5.43)
- $500/yr (184 days) for PT paraprofessionals (daily rate of $2.72)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Encourage student independence.
- Provide instructional support to the teacher or assigned student(s) by assisting in differentiated instruction and formative and summative assessment.
- Provide functional support to assigned student(s) to assist with toileting, feeding, and/or safety (in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, etc.).
- Implement strategies and interventions as outlined in student behavioral support plans. Collect data on individual student academic and behavioral support plans.
- Work with students to encourage regular daily attendance and develop positive mentor relationships with assigned students.
- Provide support to the assigned student in support settings and push into mainstream classes to deliver support services in the least restrictive setting.
- Gather data for the teacher's progress monitoring.
- Provide assigned student(s) one-to-one support on using assistive technology, as appropriate.
- Provide support for student health needs, including training on seizure protocols, diabetes protocols, CGM Blood Sugar Monitor, Hearing Aids, feeding plans, and lift transfer procedures, as well as specialized equipment.
- Assist the teacher and student(s) in Community-based Instructional opportunities to generalize taught skills and learn and practice the necessary skills for the environment.
- Provide clerical support to the teacher, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Autistic Support Teacher, Classroom Teacher, and/or Special Education Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent necessary
Recommended:
- An associate degree or higher; or
- Completed at least two years of postsecondary study (48 credits); or
- The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment
