Accountability:
The role"s primary accountability is to deliver control systems to our customers that are properly
designed, thoroughly and accurately documented, and performs its intended functions.
Essential Job Function:
Design, program, and support GMP-compliant control systems for process equipment. Work
may be done independently or integrated into a project team. The control system (hardware,
software, and documentation) shall be designed to adhere to Process Automation departmental
and standards.
Overnight travel (approx. 10%) to customer sites to perform commissioning, customer training,
validation support, warrantee support, and service support for equipment and control
systems.
Salary Range $95,000 - $145,000
Qualifications and Skills:
* Must have a Bachelor"s of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or
Engineering Technology.
* Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in control system design and
programming.
* Must possess a valid driver"s license.
* Must be able to fully develop (not modify), test, and commission Allen Bradley ControlLogix
PLC control system applications using RSLogix/Studio 5000. Recent experience is a must.
Higher level skills that are required include analog data handling, data exchanges, recipe
handling, etc.
* Must be able to develop (not modify), test, and commission SCADA (Wonderware, iFix,
and/or Ignition) control system applications. Recent experience is a must. Higher level
skills that are required include scripting, security configuration, recipe configuration,
database interfacing, report configuration, etc.
* Must be able to specify, purchase, and troubleshoot control system hardware and
instrumentation. This would include field mounted and panel mounted instruments.
* Must be able to read, understand, and develop control system design documents. This
would include Functional Specifications, User"s Manual, and engineering reports.
* Must be able to read, understand, and critically review control system design drawings for
accuracy and conformance to standards. This would include P&ID, control system
schematics, panel layout drawings, and interconnect drawings.
* Must be aware of cGMP"s procedures and practices and the implication on control system
development and modifications.
* Must be able to set up, configure, and test computers with various hardware and software
features that are included in control system design.
* Must have good troubleshooting skills (hardware, software, and documentation).
* Must be able to build customer relationships and be committed to providing our customers
with the best service in the industry.
Responsibilities:
* Develops and customizes PLC application code using RSLogix/Studio 5000 software for
ControlLogix PLCs.
* Develops and customizes SCADA application code using WonderWare.
* Develops and configures PC based relational databases, SQL data transfer, and database
reporting tools.
* Sets up, configures, and tests computers with various hardware and software features
that are included in control system design.
* Integrates thin client and virtualization technology/hardware.
* Reviews and approves control system design drawings. This includes diagrams/drawings
(P&ID, control system schematics, panel layout drawings and interconnect drawings).
Provides technical support to the CAD group when appropriate.
* Develops and edits control system design documents. This includes Functional
Specifications, User"s Manual, Sequence of Operations, Detailed Design Specifications,
etc.
* Follows Process Automation departmental standards (software, hardware,
documentation, etc.) in the development and delivery of control systems.
* Develops and executes software test protocols.
* Develops and customizes simulation code for use during software testing.
Must have 3 years minimum of PLC Programming from scratch
Must have 3 years minimum of SCADA
Must have experience working with Allen Bradley
Must be willing to travel 10% of time across the US to visit clients.
