SCHEDULE:
  • 3rd shift: 7:00 PM 5:30 AM, four 10-hour days with rotating days off
  • Shift differential: Available for 3rd shift
Job Summary:
The Automation Service Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the integrity of process equipment through preventive maintenance, process improvement, repairs, and service response. They will work with Supervisors to ensure the system runs efficiently. During these duties, the Automation Service Mechanic will report to one of our Automation Supervisors or Superintendents.
Requirements:
  • Must provide own hand tools initially (a list will be provided).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, as well as in or under equipment.
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and heights up to 80 feet.
  • Work environment may range in temperatures from 0 F to 90 F.
  • Must maintain mental alertness to ensure the safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all labeling on hazardous materials and equipment in the facility.
  • Experience working with voltages up to 480V.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong maintenance and repair skills.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical instrumentation.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing mechanical system components.
  • Ability to work with PLC controllers, diagnose faults, and perform repairs.
  • Proficient in using and understanding computer programs related to system functionality.
  • Ability to quickly learn new information.
  • Skilled in making fine adjustments to controllers, sensors, and switches.
  • Strong communication skills, sound decision-making, and ability to work well under pressure.
Essential Functions, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
  • Safety Training and Compliance:
    • Equipment Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Safe access to equipment
    • Fall protection
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS):
    • Maintain accurate records
    • Assist in inventory cycle counts as needed
  • System Equipment Maintenance:
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Process improvement
    • Repairs
    • Address operational needs
  • Technical Diagnostics & Support:
    • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repairs
    • Ensure part usage is accounted for and inventory is maintained
    • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives
    • Collaborate with outside vendors and third-party service providers
    • Maintain effective communication with Operations and internal stakeholders
