Automation Maintenance Technician

Nesco Resource is seeking an Automation Maintenance Technician to support our client, a leading provider of life-enhancing injectable medicines. Shift

• Training: Day shift for several months

• Permanent Schedule: 12-hour night shift, 2-2-3-2 schedule

• Hours: 5:30 PM – 6:00 AM

Job Summary

The Automation Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the operational efficiency of automated assembly lines through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation equipment. This role supports production operations, assists with equipment installations and improvements, and helps develop long-term preventive and predictive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and improve line efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs on automation equipment during production, as well as scheduled preventive maintenance.

• Assist with installation, setup, and validation of incoming automation equipment.

• Diagnose equipment problems, replace or repair parts, test equipment, and make necessary adjustments.

• Read and interpret OEM manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.

• Work with automation engineering to implement process improvements.

• Assist shift leadership in maintaining finished product quality through proper machine operation.

• Maintain and organize spare parts inventory, including proper parts cataloging.

• Communicate maintenance issues and equipment downtime to shift leadership in a timely manner.

• Review line history and maintenance documentation to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.

• Follow escalation procedures to address equipment issues and reduce production interruptions.

• Maintain accurate equipment logbooks documenting repairs and adjustments.

• Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs and regulations.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with the company's 5S program.

• Assist with training and developing personnel on new processes and systems.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Vocational training in pneumatics/hydraulics, electrical systems, or mechanical studies preferred.

Work Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience related to plant automation.

• One year of vocational training focused on pneumatics/hydraulics, electrical systems, or mechanical studies may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to consistently follow company safety and quality policies.

• Familiarity with applicable standard operating procedures.

• Ability to support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Ability to operate a powered industrial truck.

Travel Requirements

• Approximately 10% travel, up to 26 business days per year.

Physical Requirements

• Medium physical exertion.

• Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.
