Automotive Commodity Procurement Leader

Are you the person who can turn supply risk into competitive advantage?

If you thrive on building supplier partnerships, leading negotiations, and guiding teams through complexity, this role is for you. We’re a growing automotive manufacturer seeking a hands-on leader to own direct material commodity procurement across the Americas—far beyond transactional buying.

What you’ll do

• Develop and deploy commodity sourcing strategies that align with business goals
• Run end-to-end RFQ cycles: supplier identification, quotation analysis, and award
• Negotiate commercial terms and drive savings while protecting quality and delivery
• Own supplier relationship management: performance reviews, development, and escalation handling
• Lead cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement workstreams
• Monitor commodity markets, pricing trends, and supply risks to inform decisions
• Support new product launches and program purchasing activities alongside Program Management
• Resolve supply disruptions quickly, coordinating cross-functionally to maintain continuity
• Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and customers to balance cost, quality, and timing
• Maintain precise purchasing and master data in SAP/ERP systems
• Coach and develop buyers and purchasing team members across the Americas
• Validate purchasing strategies, priorities, and supplier choices with clear rationale

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, sourcing, or procurement (preferred)
• Strong background in Automotive Tier 1/Tier 2 or relevant manufacturing (strongly preferred)
• Depth in direct materials and commodity management
• Leadership experience guiding purchasing teams or functions
• Proven supplier negotiation and contracting track record
• Strong SAP proficiency (strongly preferred) and ERP data accuracy discipline
• Customer-facing poise and escalation management skill
• High urgency and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of long-term strategy

Why this role

It’s an opportunity to own strategy, stabilize supply, and elevate performance across cost, quality, delivery, and risk—while mentoring a capable team and partnering with leaders across the business.
