We are seeking a high-energy, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our Ford dealership team. In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between our customers and our Ford-certified service technicians. You will be responsible for greeting guests, diagnosing initial vehicle symptoms, recommending scheduled Ford maintenance, and keeping customers informed throughout the repair process. This position offers a stable base salary coupled with an uncapped commission structure, making it an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who excel in customer service and thrive in a performance-driven sales environment.
- Customer Relations & Intake: Greet service department customers promptly and courteously. Listen actively to customer descriptions of vehicle symptoms and clearly translate repair needs into actionable work orders for technicians.
- Service & Maintenance Consulting: Advise customers on routine maintenance based on Ford Factory Scheduled Maintenance intervals and the specific needs of their vehicles.
- Estimates & Approvals: Prepare clear, accurate written cost estimates for parts and labor. Explain the scope of work, warranty protections (such as the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty or Ford Protect Extended Service Plans), and potential cost savings to the customer. Obtain authorized signatures prior to beginning work.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate with the Parts Department to verify original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part availability and pricing. Monitor the repair progress of vehicles throughout the day and establish accurate promised completion times for customers.
- Communication & Follow-up: Keep customers updated on any changes in service scope, scheduling, or cost. Conduct post-service explanations of repair orders and charges, handle customer complaints with empathy, and actively request online reviews to bolster dealership reputation.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality is required. 1–3 years of experience as an automotive service advisor or service writer is a major plus, but we are willing to train the right individual with a strong service background.
- Technical Knowledge: General familiarity with automotive products, powertrain systems, and routine maintenance components. Familiarity with Ford vehicles (including Ford EcoBoost engines, Ford Pro commercial vehicles, or Ford EV models) is highly advantageous.
- Software Proficiency: Comfort learning new software. Experience utilizing dealership management systems (DMS) like Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK Global, or Dealertrack, alongside Ford-specific web tools (OASIS, FordOne, etc.), is a plus.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical automotive jargon into simple, consumer-friendly terms.
- License: Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record for test-driving customer vehicles.
