Job Description

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN

Tiered Performance Based Flat-Rate Pay | High-Performing Shop | Strong Workflow

If you're a productive technician who wants cars in your bay, clear expectations, strong workflow, and pay tied directly to production, keep reading.

We are building a high-performance automotive repair shop where technicians are treated like skilled producers — not hourly employees waiting around for something to happen.

Technicians are paid a Tiered Performance BaseFlat Rate.

The more you produce, the more you get paid per hour flagged.

Our job as a company is to build the systems, car count, communication, parts flow, and front-counter performance that allow strong technicians to turn hours.

Your job is to inspect, diagnose, document, build accurate repair orders, and produce quality work efficiently.

WHAT MAKES OUR SHOP DIFFERENT

In many shops the Technician identifies a problem, gives a Service Advisor a few notes, and hopes somebody figures out the rest.

Not here.

Technicians own the work.

That means you are responsible for:

  • Performing complete DVIs
  • Diagnosing customer concerns
  • Identifying legitimate safety issues
  • Documenting findings
  • Providing clear photos and videos when appropriate
  • Identifying required parts
  • Identifying required labor
  • Building complete repair recommendations
  • Producing accurate information the Advisor can sell

The Advisor's job is to communicate and close.

The technician's job is to know the vehicle.

OUR PRODUCTION STANDARD

We are not building a shop around tiny repair orders.

That does not mean replacing parts a vehicle does not need.

It means performing a complete inspection, identifying legitimate needs, documenting them properly, and giving the customer the opportunity to make an informed decision.

If something is unsafe, we find it.

If something is worn, we document it.

If something is good, we leave it alone.

SPEED MATTERS

Customers should not lose half their day waiting for us to look at their vehicle.

Our operating standard is:

Morning drop-offs inspected, diagnosed, estimated, and ready for customer presentation before 11:00 AM.

That means technicians must get vehicles inspected quickly.

Cars cannot sit untouched until after lunch.

The faster we identify the customer's problem and complete the inspection, the faster the Advisor can get authorization and the faster you can start producing flagged hours.

Speed creates hours.

SAFETY COMES FIRST

When you identify a primary safety concern, we want it communicated immediately.

Do not wait until the entire inspection is perfect before raising your hand.

The Advisor may present that concern to the customer while you continue inspecting the vehicle.

Early information creates early decisions.

Early decisions keep vehicles in the shop.

Vehicles staying in the shop create production.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR TECHNICIANS

You should be able to:

  • Perform complete digital vehicle inspections
  • Diagnose efficiently
  • Identify safety and maintenance needs
  • Create accurate labor recommendations
  • Identify required parts
  • Document findings clearly
  • Prioritize work correctly
  • Communicate with the Advisor
  • Follow established inspection and repair processes
  • Work efficiently
  • Produce quality repairs
  • Stand behind your work
  • Maintain an organized bay
  • Track your own productivity

You should know your numbers.

Hours produced.

Efficiency.

Comeback rate.

Inspection completion.

Average repair order.

Great technicians do not guess about their performance.

WHO WE WANT

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have professional automotive repair experience
  • Are comfortable with a Tiered Performance Base Flat Rate compensation
  • Want opportunities to produce hours
  • Move quickly
  • Perform thorough inspections
  • Can diagnose instead of simply replacing parts
  • Understand that documentation helps sell legitimate repairs
  • Take ownership of the entire technical side of the repair order
  • Can work independently
  • Accept accountability
  • Want to improve your skills and income
  • Prefer a shop with clear expectations

ASE certifications are valuable but demonstrated ability matters more than initials on a patch.

THIS POSITION IS PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU IF:

  • You require guaranteed hourly pay regardless of production
  • You regularly leave vehicles sitting
  • You skip inspections because you're busy
  • You believe identifying needed work is “the Advisor's job”
  • You hand the Advisor incomplete repair recommendations
  • You avoid difficult diagnostic work
  • You routinely blame parts, Advisors, customers, or management for low production
  • You don't want your productivity measured
  • You need someone standing over you to get work completed

We are not hiring someone to occupy a bay.

We are hiring a producer.

COMPENSATION

Pay Structure: Tiered Performance Base Flat Rate + Benefits
Flat Rate: $40.00 to $60.00 + per flagged hour based on skill and production level. There is no CEILING for the money you can earn here.
Expected Annual Earnings: $100,000.00 +

Your income is connected to your production and is UNLIMITED!

The better our systems operate and the more efficiently you produce, the more opportunity exists for both you and the business.

CAREER PATH

Being a technician should not mean doing the exact same job forever.

As our company grows, strong performers will have opportunities to advance into higher technical levels, diagnostic roles, foreman responsibilities, leadership, paid offsite training, and or management.

Advancement is earned through:

Skill + Production + Reliability + Leadership

Not seniority.

OUR CULTURE

We operate around a few basic principles:

Urgency
Cars get looked at quickly.

Ownership
Technicians own the technical work.

Accountability
Know your numbers.

Transparency
Document what you find.

Quality
Fast does not mean careless.

Teamwork
Technicians produce the information. Advisors produce the decision.

Performance
People who produce should have the opportunity to earn more.

OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS

We are going to determine three things before we hire you:

Culture

Will you fit the way we work?

Operational Ability

Can you perform the job at the level we need?

Core Values

Can we trust how you operate when nobody is watching?

We would rather leave a bay open than fill it with the wrong technician.

WANT TO TALK?

If you are tired of sitting around waiting for work, tired of unclear expectations, and want a shop where strong technicians are expected to produce and rewarded when they do, apply.

When you apply through Indeed, answer these three questions:

  1. What is your current or most recent flat-rate pay?
  2. How many hours per week do you typically flag?
  3. What types of diagnostic and repair work are you strongest at?

Producers usually know their numbers.

We want to meet them.
