An industry-leading autonomous driving technology company has engaged us to find an Autonomous Driving System Safety Lead to help define and validate the safety strategy behind next-generation self-driving systems. In this highly visible individual contributor role, you'll lead the development of the Autonomous Driving System (ADS) Safety Case, authoring safety claims and coordinating the technical evidence required to support the safe deployment of AI-powered autonomous vehicles. You'll work at the intersection of systems engineering, functional safety, AI, and autonomy, helping shape how one of the industry's most advanced autonomous driving platforms is brought to commercial scale.

A bit about the company:

Strategic Growth Stage:
The company is one of the best-funded autonomous driving technology companies in the U.S. and is rapidly expanding its engineering organization as it partners with leading automotive manufacturers and mobility providers to bring autonomous driving technology to commercial scale.

Mission-Driven Innovation:
The company is building one of the world's most advanced autonomous driving platforms, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware to deliver safe, scalable self-driving technology. Their licensing model enables autonomous capabilities across multiple vehicle platforms, accelerating the future of intelligent transportation.

Impactful Work:
You'll own and author key safety claims within the Autonomous Driving System Safety Case, ensuring that onboard and offboard software—including AI-driven autonomy components—meets rigorous safety standards. Working closely with teams across Autonomy Software, Data Platform, Operations, and Legal, you'll identify safety gaps, coordinate technical evidence, and help establish the framework that supports safe commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of technical experience, including at least 3 years working with robotics software or autonomous systems.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements development, verification, validation, and how complex robotic systems operate.
  • Experience working in a safety-critical industry such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, aerospace, aviation, or medical devices.
  • Hands-on experience applying ISO 21448 (SOTIF) and familiarity with ISO 8800 or related AI safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships across engineering, operations, and business teams.

If this role is of interest to you, please apply with your current resume. We will review your background and reach out to schedule an initial call.
