E-logic is seeking a highly qualified Aviation Program Manager / Senior Aerospace Engineer to lead our engineering team in supporting the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service airtanker and wildland firefighting aircraft fleet. In this critical role, you will oversee all aspects of our multi-year engineering support services contract, directing technical analyses, structural certification compliance, and modification projects for a variety of specialized mission aircraft. You will serve as the primary point of contact and key personnel for the contract, managing individual project tasks, structural health monitoring, aging aircraft sustainment, and operational loads data evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight: Manage all aspects of the contract performance, overseeing specialized engineering teams and designating individual project managers for assigned task orders.
  • Engineering & Certification: Perform and review structural compliance analyses, airworthiness assessments, fatigue and damage tolerance evaluations, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA).
  • Modifications & STCs: Guide engineering projects involving Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs), aircraft structural repairs, and specialized mission modifications (e.g., retardant delivery systems, camera installations).
  • Fleet Asset Stewardship: Analyze aircraft operational loads monitoring (OLM) data to track structural health and support asset sustainment across fixed-wing and rotorcraft fleets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to fulfill Part 23 and Part 25 structural functions (static/dynamic analysis, design, and damage tolerance).

Required Qualifications & Education

  • Education: Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited School of Engineering.
  • Licensure: A current, active, and valid state-issued Professional Engineer (PE) License in the United States.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of direct experience in aviation structural analysis.
  • FAA Framework: Extensive background working with structural analysis on aircraft certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Preferred Experience

  • Direct experience or familiarity working with wildland firefighting airtankers or aerial firefighting mission platforms.
  • Specific engineering design or fleet management experience with the following platforms: Shorts SD3-60 Sherpa, de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter, de Havilland DHC2 Beaver, or Beechcraft King Air.
  • Hands-on experience with finite element modeling (FEM) for components, assemblies, and large-scale structural frames (wing, fuselage, empennage).
  • Experience implementing or managing aircraft structural health monitoring systems.

Important Notice:

This role is part of a proposal for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service . Hiring is contingent upon the selection of the consultant. Selected candidates will be included in the proposal and must authorize the use of their resume for submission.
