AVID Teacher - BECHS

REQUIRED:

• Bachelors Degree
• Valid Texas Teacher certificate (9-12) in area of assignment

PREFERRED:

• Three (3) years teaching experience.
• Masters in subject area or masters plus 18 graduate hours in subject area (able
• to teach dual enrollment);
• AVID training.
• Core Training; and
• Pre-AP and/or AP training in core area (Math, Science, Social Studies, and
• English Language Arts).

Special Knowledge Skills:

• Knowledge of all state and college testing requirements and standards;
• Demonstrated success with improved student performance;
• Ability to incorporate technology and media into instruction and student assignments;
• Knowledge of dual enrollment;
• Knowledge of the AVID program and its goals; and
• Knowledge of the structure of UTRGV/TSC and the ability to work with college representatives from every department.
